FRAMING to show off the LIGHT

I have just had my painting TAKE FIVE, framed by Lis and Dave at PRICELIS ART/YELLOWMOON GALLERY near RADSTOCK. As usual, they have done an amazing job, I like to use a fairly neutral black frame with a textured black mount, I like the proportions to fairly wide, this gives my paintings space to breathe and the sunlight in the painting to shine through. We also re mounted and re fitted some of my other pieces.

Sometimes a scene (or moment) presents itself with the perfect light and set up that you know would make a lovely painting, This was such a moment. With technology today, a phone records that image perfectly. A coffee break at FLOURISH gave me the inspiration for my new painting.

Sometimes, when you are out and about on your daily grind, you see something that would tick all of your boxes to make a nice painting. These days with great cameras in your phone,. you can record that moment quickly and paint it later, this is what has happened with my new piece.. still a way to go.. but I am enjoying it.. watch this space.

Working with my year 5 and 6 students for their ART WEEK at STAPLE HILL PRIMARY, they produced some great art based on MATISSE’s THE BLUE WOMAN. Their subject was HUMAN BODY and using a mixture of different materials and techniques, they produced these great pieces.

My new painting, WHISPERING, is finally finished. It was certainly a big challenge, I’ve never painted just ‘grass’ before.. originally, there was just me and my camera in a field and the gentle sound of the breeze in the moving grass. My YEAR-2022

Happy New year everyone! My ART (outside of working with my pupils at school) in 2022 hasn’t been as prolific a year for me as I’d have liked, I’ve been so busy with lots of projects that have taken me away from my board, With that said I am proud of the work I’ve done, MONFORTE, BRONCO, ARTHUR and my painting of the Queen, MAJESTY: 70 GLORIOUS YEARS (originally done for the Jubilee but sadly shared more for her funeral) have all been BIG challenges creatively.
